Avro Lancaster

By John Stephenson LRPS

One of only two flying Avro Lancasters from WW2, this belongs to the Mynarski Memorial flight from Canada. It was on a visit to the UK to honour Canadian mid upper gunner Andrew Mynarski VC of 419 (Moose) Squadron RCAF who gained his award posthumously for trying to save a fellow crew member when shot down over enemy territory on June 13th 1944. He flew from RAF Middleton St George on Teeside where this was taken.
