St. George Day, Gori, Georgia/1
This portrait is part of 'Only Crazy People Take Pictures Here' a series which is a small window on the people of Georgia. The title was shouted at me from a balcony while I was taking pictures in Africa, a suburb of Tbilisi. I photographed pilgrims of a religious festival where their prized possessions were blessed by priests before been used in a feast to mark St. George's Day. The backdrop fabric was selected from a local market and used as a makeshift studio.
